Reading, Spelling & Writing | Grades 4-9

READMontana's Small Group Classes provide reading, spelling, and writing instruction in a collaborative setting. Designed for students who are ready to learn alongside peers, our classes combine explicit teaching, discussion, guided practice, and engaging activities that build lasting literacy skills.

Our curriculum combines research-based instructional programs with original READMontana lessons designed to make learning engaging, meaningful, and fun.

Fall 2026 Class Options

Choose from four evidence-based classes designed to strengthen reading, spelling, and writing skills for students in Grades 4–8.

Intermediate Language Lab

Strengthen reading, spelling, and vocabulary through research-based instruction. Students learn strategies for reading multisyllabic words, improve reading fluency, expand academic vocabulary, and build stronger spelling through sound patterns, spelling patterns, and word structure.

Intermediate Writing

Develop strong writing skills one building block at a time. Students learn to write clear sentences, organized paragraphs, and short essays while strengthening note-taking, outlining, and revision strategies through explicit instruction and engaging collaborative activities.

Secondary Language Lab

Advance reading, spelling, and vocabulary through instruction appropriate for middle-school learners. Students strengthen decoding of complex words, increase reading fluency, expand academic vocabulary, and refine spelling by applying the patterns and structure of English words.

Secondary Writing 


Strengthen academic writing through clear instruction in sentence construction, paragraph organization, and academic essay development. Students learn to vary sentence design, analyze information, organize ideas, use evidence, and revise for clarity and style.
